Although this ended up being a terrible tragedy with an innocent person being killed, I wanted to point out something.
The older generation solved their own problems.
They did not have the luxury of dialing 911, partly because law enforcement at that time was not seen as a “protective” entity, that job was put squarely on the shoulders of the ARMED citizen, aka Joe Q Public.
This elderly man had been bullied and scammed continuously by phone by who he thought was legitimate Law Enforcement, so reaching the end of his rope, he did the only thing he could: He ARMED Himself and Fought Back against what he thought was part of the problem.
Though the ending was tragic, we can definitely learn something from this.
At the end of the day an Armed Man is a Citizen, an Unarmed man is a Mark and a Subject.
