Home firearm storage mostly consists of safes and ugly cabinets. This DIY secret gun compartment doubles as a living room mirror, but opens to reveal your firearms when you need them.
Corey of Sawdust 2 Stitches shares a video of the gun cabinet she built below. It houses her AR-15 as well as magazines and other accessories. The pegboard can be customized to hold handguns, shotguns, and firearms of any size. It could also be used as secret storage for anything else you wouldn’t want someone to see.
This gun cabinet is not a safe, so there is no key to find or combination to fumble with when you need to gain quick access to your weapons. It’s unlikely that anyone would consider looking at a living room mirror for hidden guns, so this cabinet is effective because no one knows it’s there, not because it’s locked. (Still, if you’ve got children in the home, then get a proper locking safe.)
This build will take a few days, but the supplies can be bought online or from your local home center. Standard lumber and plywood are used for the basic construction, and mirror panels, pegboard, and piano hinges round out the main hardware pieces. A miter saw, router, table saw, and drill are needed to assemble the unit. The cornered miters that swing out are a bit tricky, so Corey has a quick video showing how she cut those.
If you’ve been seeking a nice looking gun cabinet to hide (rather than display) your rifles, then build this one following the tutorial from Sawdust 2 Stitches.

Right. IF your good at woodworking, can afford, and have the room to keep those tools. A miter saw, router, table saw? It’s for homeowners. 🙁
Plenty of other options for the enterprising Prepper….or if you are just lazy, check these out (Note: you can find them cheaper elsewhere I am sure)
