I spent the day in quiet reflection. On Veterans and Memorial Day I always make it a point to watch a movie or two that memorializes my heroes….today I watched one about Winston Churchill called “Into the Storm” I highly recommend it for you fellow WW2 buffs..anyways, It got me in a “poetic” mood.-SF
Life is fleeting my friends, a quick whisper, a short story, a flash of bright light and it is gone
believe me when I say I have seen it leave in a hurry too many times, taking with it friends and brothers….
People that mattered, People I loved, are getting fewer and fewer in number now
that’s called getting older (and wiser) the old warriors tell me
the memories you keep you hold on too tight, even if some of them hurt, even if some of them bite
I find purpose and I find life in a Child’s smile now…the brightness in their eyes, the smoothness in their soul
Happiness, like Life, is Fleeting too, if you don’t pursue it everyday…So Pursue it! For one day we die…
But as the poet so eloquently said:
“To Every Man Upon this Earth,
Death cometh soon or late,
and how can man die better than facing fearful odds…”
Let us all pray that we all can die facing fearful odds one day
For I fear the future of Democracy and Freedom may demand it, one way or another……….
Stay Alert, Stay Armed and Stay Dangerous My Friends….And Thanks for Reading the Blog.
