Gear Review: Rapid-Fire Tek’s SB-47 Spacer Kit

In the last decade there has been rapid growth in the AK Rifle Accessories market in the U.S., And I am not talking about the multitude of ambiguous warehouses in New Jersey or New York that imports Chinese junk either. I am talking about a “true-blue” American business that designs, engineers and handcrafts it’s own custom parts in-house.  Rapid Fire Tek is one of those businesses. From custom made Saiga Handguards and Stocks to AK Grips and Mounts, they have pretty much everything you need to deck out your gun. They also carry a nice assortment of VEPR 12 shotgun accessories and even some AR swag. After all, you have to include the lowly AR shooters too!

One of the pieces of kit that RFT offers that I think will really interest a lot of CO’s out there who shoot AK pistols is the SB-47 Adjustable Spacer Kit. This nifty piece of kit now makes your SB-47 Brace truly adjustable to suit each CO’s individual arm length and taste.

The kit comes complete with the following:

  • Spacer
  • RFT In-House Manufactured Locking Plate, made out of 6061 T6 Aluminum coated in Norrells Matte Black Molly Resin  (to secure the brace)
  • Small aluminum wedge (to help you install the spacer without marring up the tube on the SB-47 Brace)
  • Longer mounting bolts
  • Two allen wrenches
  • Quick Detach Swivel (so you do not lose your rear sling mount option).

The folks at RFT offer two varieties of the SB Spacer Kit, one with the locking plate (priced modestly at $79.95) and one without priced at $64.95 (shown HERE). Both varieties do exactly the same thing, the only difference is the one with the locking plate (the one I am reviewing here) keeps the brace from spinning and more stable during firing.

Installation is a snap, and RFT has included simple directions and a YouTube Vid shown above, to give you the basics.

** I will add one SNAFU that I did during install and save you guys the trouble: The provided Locking plate goes ON-TOP of the SB-47 EXISTING LOCKING PLATE..IT DOES NOT REPLACE IT! So, in the end, you will have 2 locking plates on top of your grip**

Installed, the spacer kit looks awesome on my HCS CO M92!
