Open Carry May Soon be a Reality in Texas!

Posted on 6 November 2014 by The Tactical Hermit

OC

Well it did not take our new Governor Greg Abbott long to act on one of his campaign promises. Open Carry of a Handgun (with aPermit) may be coming to Texas very soon. While it is currently legal to openly carry a long arm, our New Governor saw fit to have Texas POSSIBLY join the majority of the rest of the country that allows Open Carry of a Handgun with a Permit. (See Map of States HERE).

Although personally I am not a fan of Open Carry (I feel Concealed Carry offers the CO more advantage.) I fully support the passing of Open Carry as a 2nd Amendment right and privilege.

Guns Save Lives Folks.

Stay Alert, Stay Armed and Stay Dangerous!

I am against it without a repeal or severe narrowing of 30.06. Open carry scares sheep. Owners put up signs. I have less places to go armed.

Yeah I hear you, but we gotta take one thing at a time.. unfortunately I don’t think you will ever see any legislation that amounts to much as far narrowing the power of 30.06 in Texas in the near future… For now, I think CO’s should look at the bigger picture of what getting Open Carry legalized gives us: it expands the Citizens rights and gives us more options. Once it is Law, then we can look at the particulars of 30.06 restrictions. Look at 30.06 precedents in other Open Carry States, such as AZ, once OC was in place for a while, biz owners saw the benefit, and were willing to relax the restrictions..it all takes time.
