You have to decide now if you are willing for your beloved pet (or pet’s) are going to be an asset for protection and food, and maybe even food if things get bad OR are you going to spare them (and you) the emotional pain of that choice and humanely euthanize them at the beginning of the End?? Tough Questions/Tough Choices.

Not a dog owner then? The benefits of a battery free alarm system, forager, for defense, hot water bottle at night, and company mean our dogs take pride of place as equipment. A little inconvenience outweighed by their advantages.
Amundsen also got it right when he raced to get to the South Pole and he was asked what he was taking. “Dogs, dogs, and more dogs”. Why? When they could work no more instant fresh food.
As for cats? That’s different, they are tasty.
Thoughtfully…All great points to hit on about Dogs, except the part about the hot water bottle at night…my wife would fill that position!
The point the vid brought up was to point out the conundrum ALOT of people in this Country will face when they will have to choose how to use their pets in a prepping situation..the United States is one of the only countries in the world that spends more on Pet “Care” Products than we do on coffee or bottled water (52 BILLION in 2012), so I think that choice is going to be a hard one for a large percentage of the population, at least in America!
