November 10, 2021 marks the 246th Year of the United States Marine Corp.
In Honor of this Historical Day instead of writing some sentimental hot air or complaining about what the Marine Corp. is becoming I thought instead I might Celebrate a few things that are close to my heart:
First, a short video of the Silent Drill Platoon from the movie A Few Good Men, because what better symbolizes the Corp’s dedication to Strength, Unity, Perfection and Sacrifice than these guys. Second, a Bio of Sgt. Major Brad Kasal who was awarded the Navy Cross for combat action in Fallujah and who I feel represents the ESSENCE of what the Marine Corp. is and what every Modern Marine strives to be. And Lastly, an awesome podcast about every Marines Favorite Marine, Lt. General Chesty B. Puller!
Sgt. Maj Bradley A. Kasal, USMC
One More for Chesty (Podcast)
“Chesty” Puller was a Marine’s Marine. To this day, in Marine Corps boot camp, recruits are exhorted, “Do one more for Chesty! Chesty Puller never quit!” His combat service record is astonishing: he is the most decorated Marine in history. Chesty insisted that he did not love fighting. But if there was a fight, he wanted in on it, and he generally was. But the fighting spirit is not the only reason Chesty is revered by Marines. Bravery in combat is expected. He embodied something more.
