Armed Citizen Corner: Another Cautionary Tale on Being Armed When the Cops Show Up After Calling 911

A black homeowner called 911 to report a carjacking. He wound up getting shot by police.

(clink on above title link to be re-directed to source page)

This incident is NOT about race first off, so as usual the media can stuff it on that aspect.

What it is about is poor decision making.

What we know is the homeowner called 911 and reported an armed man (with a long gun) assaulted his wife and stole their car. When the cops show up, there is a car similar to the one reported stolen in the driveway and then the homeowner opens his garage door and comes out ARMED with a handgun. Not a good situation.

What happens after that we are not sure. Were verbal commands given by the cop to the homeowner and not followed? Did the cop shoot without giving commands? Did the homeowner act aggressive toward police? We Don’t know yet.

The one fact I can comment on is this: When the cop’s show up, it is best that you are not the one suddenly showing up holding a gun in a threatening way!

Since this seems to be a common problem with Armed Citizens as of late, when we have the complete story on this incident I will do a more in-depth post on “What to Do When you Call 911 and Armed” or “What to Do After a Legal Self-Defense Shooting when the Cops Show Up”. Massad Ayoob did some really decent videos on this a while back so maybe we can review those.

Stay Alert, Stay Armed and Stay Dangerous!
