A Fake Tourniquet Could Cost Your Life!

Counterfeit tourniquets, of all things.

On July 14, 2015, an Ocean City, New Jersey patrolman applied a tourniquet to an 18-year old traffic victim’s leg. This action is credited with saving her life.

On August 8, 2015, a Florida deputy sheriff investigator used a tourniquet to save the life of a woman who had lost an arm in an alligator attack.

That same day police officers in Tulsa, Oklahoma used a tourniquet to stop blood flowing from a severed artery. According to emergency room physicians, this act saved the victim’s life.

On August 22, 2015, Dallas police officers saved the life of a 4-year old drive-by shooting victim by applying a tourniquet.

But now, dangerous fake tourniquets have entered the market.

Officer uses Tourniquet to Save Childs Life

According to Chris Hickey, EMS Training Officer for the Manchester New Hampshire Fire Department, a tourniquet is “basically a belt with a rod that you “twist, twist and twist” until the flow of blood is stopped, and then the rod is inserted into a clip to hold it in place.”

What kind of douchenozzle makes fake tourniquets?
Greedy asswipes-they need to stick to fake purses, watches, and designer clothes.

Careful what you buy…which is why when it comes to SYA Gear (Save your Ass) I only buy certain brands and certain things.

Most of my SYA stuff comes directly from a major hospital in NE Ohio, where I happen to know a nurse who tends to bring stuff home in her pockets-stuff like 2×2 and 4×4 gauze, abdominal dressings-(a thick absorbent bandage)-sutures,individual packets of bacitracin, neomycin, triple antibiotic ointment, rubber tourniquets etc.
I have a complete IFAK,with the one handed tourniquet, nasopharyngeal (sp) airway EMT shears, and everything else that came in it-plus the stuff I’ve added.
That IFAK goes on every hunting trip, that IFAK plus a bunch more goes on every extended backcountry hunting trip.

Very Cool. Don’t forget your ITK for everyday. They can fit in a pants pocket. I actually carry one on my person and one in the truck..came in handy one time when I came across a motorcycle accident, the guy nicked his femoral, if I had not come along with some Quick Clot he would have been a goner, as the EMT’s were still 10m out. My Buddy Mark at E3 makes a great PTK http://e3solutions.tumblr.com/post/65268150830/pocket-trauma-kit-contents-specs

Email me if interested and I can get you a good price.
