I have been running a Burris Fast Fire on my working AK for a while now and I to date, I am very happy with it. The only worry I have had is since it is an open and not enclosed red dot, the chance of damaging it go up. My last Fast-Fire took a bullet ricochet in the top right corner of the lens, cracking the glass and damaging the frame…. it continued to operate and hold zero until Burris replaced it free of charge earlier this year; so I know these little boogers are tough, I just wanted to minimize the chance of it getting damaged again!
With the Free-of-Charge FastFire replacement, the good folks at Burris were good enough to send me a Picatinny Protector Mount. The bracket, like the optic, weighs in at 6 ounces, so this little package together is only 12 ounces.
Looking down the sights the outer bracket adds a “framing” quality to the optic, helping you “capture” your shot quickly if need be. For CQ shots, this gives you speed and an element of precision.
Overall, the Protector mount is worth the investment if you choose to run a Burris FastFire.
Stay Dangerous!
Does this mount still allow co-witness/ use
Of the iron sights on your ak

Yes, the dot will co-witness and float right above your front sight. For the money, the best red dot for the AK IMO.
Yes it does. Sorry for late reply, been out of CONUS working.
