To say I grew up with Chuck Norris would be an understatement.
Having competed in Karate and Kickbooxing as a kid, the guy was a living, breathing icon for me. I remember my dad taking me to Houston when I was around nine to watch him in a kickbxing tournament and then of course all of his great movies. I still remember seing him fight Bruce Lee in The Way of the Dragon. I think I wore that VHS tape out rewinding it trying to duplicate his kicks! And then of course there was one of my dad’s fave movies: Missing in Action. I mean does it get any better than Chuck Norris coming out of the water with a M-60? Or wielding MAC-10’s akimbo in Invasion USA?
More than all of this though Chuck Norris exemplified grace and style in his public life. He was always well spoken and a gentleman in public, quietly practicing his Christian beliefs in the best way possible: By example.
I had to smile while preparing to write this, as his memes are still prominent all over the web, Chuck Norris reinvented for a new generation!
The Legend and the Man will Live on because that is what Icons do.
Gonna miss you Chuck, you were and will always be a Champion in my book.
