Joe Biden, if nothing else, appears to be bound and determined to make the last few weeks of his presidency interesting. He’s granted pardons at an absolutely insane rate, including some truly despicable characters. What’s even more striking is that, unlike Bill Clinton or Donald Trump, there does not appear to be an obvious political motivation to these pardons. Bill Clinton blatantly sold off a pardon to a major donor (see Marc Rich); while Trump took the opposite approach, pardoning violent black rappers, including one who made a music video fantasizing about killing rural Whites. As for Trump, his pardons were done while his own genuine supporters (still) languished in prison.
