Emails obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation revealed that the Biden administration reduced the vetting process for Chinese illegal immigrants.
An April 2023 email from a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) supervisor informs about 500 Border Patrol agents informs that “[t]here is no requirement for 100% Chinese in depth interviews or phone downloads.”
If a Chinese migrant answered “yes” to “basic questions” relating to potential military service, region of birth, universities attended, place of employment, and his or her political party, then they would be taken for in-depth questioning.
Retired CBP deputy patrol agent, J.J. Carrell, informed the Daily Caller that the limited vetting process makes it more challenging to identify threats.
“This policy change has accelerated the time it takes to process Chinese illegal immigrants — this doesn’t make America safer,” Carrell told the outlet. “The final result is that dangerous Chinese illegal immigrants will still be released into the U.S.”
