Build An Emergency Water Filtration System
Most of you are not putting enough emphasis on access to clean water in a crisis. If you complete this project, you will be light years ahead of most others in the preparedness community.
How do I know most of you aren’t putting enough emphasis on water purification? Because many of you plan to rely upon LifeStraws, Berkeys, and unproven/uncertified technologies to produce a substance (clean water) the absence of which will kill you in days. You must take access to clean water in grid down conditions seriously. Those who don’t will suffer greatly.
This subject is more important than ham radios and guns, and because of that, this is a very long “how to” post. Given the critical nature of what follows, all of you – except one small subset in the preparedness community – need to read and then do the things I discuss below.
For that one small subset – the Berkey worshippers – I say this: If you’re a “I’ll give up my Berkey when they pry it from my cold, dead hands” kind of person, let me save you a lot of time. Click off this page and go read something else. You will not like, nor will you do, any of the recommendations which follow. I explained my position on this a year ago, having removed Berkey from my recommended supply list. I will go into a little more detail below, but for some of you, it won’t matter. Which is fine – you do you. I am about giving you ideas and options to tailor to your situation. If you want to stick with Berkey, feel free to do so.
