“The Will to Win compares little with the will to prepare to Win.”
–Coach “Bear” Bryant
In order to become proficient at anything you need to practice, but first you have to identify your weak points or you will be practicing the wrong things, repetitively. To do that, first you need to Isolate each Tool or Technique, Second you need to Sharpen it (correct it and then repeat), and Third you need to merge them together.
For Both Combat Pistol, Shotgun and Rifle, those 3 “Tools” are:
- Weapons Handling/Manipulation
- Movement
- Marksmanship
There is a reason why I bullet pointed these tools and did not number them; no one tool is more important than the other, they are all equally important. If you cannot operate your gun during a fight, you will die, if you cannot get off the X (Out of the Kill Zone), you will die, if you cannot hit your target, you will die. More importantly, if you cannot put all three together in a semi-seamless fashion, you most certainly will die.
Lastly, we can never dismiss the Preparedness Mindset, which Coach Bryant was really talking about in the above quote. You must have the Will to PREPARE. Ask yourself this question frequently: “Do I actively prepare to defend myself and my family with realistic combat training involving firearms?” If the answer is No, choose right now to change. It all starts with Mindset. Then contact HCS, we would be glad to tailor an at home training program that fits your schedule and skill level; in your email subject line put “Training Program” and we will get back with you with prices and details.
