Well Guys and Gals, it appears the DEA can now mistake Mexican Music Videos for “credible intelligence”!! Wow, that sure goes a LONG WAY to boost my confidence in the Federal Law Enforcement System, how about you? -SF<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Earlier this week, what appeared to be “leaked” cellphone video<\/a> showing fugitive Mexican drug lord Joaquin \u201cEl Chapo\u201d Guzm\u00e1n partying\u00a0with heavily armed associates emerged on the internet.<\/p>\n

Given the appearance of the people in the video and the way they interacted with each other, a former DEA official\u00a0said<\/a>\u00a0there was \u201ca very strong possibility\u201d that it was authentic.<\/p>\n

But there seems to be a different reason for the verisimilitude: The video was behind-the-scenes footage of a music video<\/a>for the Mexican band Los Titanes De Durango.<\/p>\n

The original clip was convincing, despite doubts about<\/a> its origins and veracity.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would say 90 to 95 percent \u2026 that it\u2019s (El Chapo) in the video,\u201d Mike Vigil, the former DEA chief of international relations, told mySA.com<\/a>before the likely origin of footage came out.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know who else it could be,\u201d Vigil added. \u201cIt certainly looks like him.\u201d<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not clear how the behind-the-scenes clip first hit the internet. If it was released by someone acting on behalf of the cartel, it wouldn\u2019t be the first time the public\u00a0had been teased about the whereabouts of Guzm\u00e1n, who is the boss of the\u00a0world’s most powerful drug cartel<\/a> and generally considered to be the most wanted man on the planet<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Earlier this year, after Guzm\u00e1n pulled off a brazen escape from a high-security prison in central Mexico, a Twitter account purporting to be one of his sons posted photos that appeared<\/a> to show the kingpin either in Costa Rica or a town in Sinaloa with the same name.<\/p>\n
