{"id":9818,"date":"2015-12-03T13:13:58","date_gmt":"2015-12-03T19:13:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hcstx.org\/?p=9818"},"modified":"2015-12-03T13:13:58","modified_gmt":"2015-12-03T19:13:58","slug":"in-2015-why-do-we-still-fight","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thetacticalhermit.com\/index.php\/2015\/12\/03\/in-2015-why-do-we-still-fight\/","title":{"rendered":"In 2015, Why Do We Still Fight?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-9819 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/hcsblogdotorg.files.wordpress.com\/2015\/12\/war.jpg\" alt=\"Portrait of american soldier resting from military operation\" width=\"200\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Why fight wars at all?\u00a0 We lose lives and treasure even if we win.\u00a0 Those who survive are haunted by the violence and the price they paid; whether they were drafted or volunteered every one of them offered up their lives for an ideal.<\/p>\n<p>War is a bloody, terrible business.\u00a0 Military personnel are trained to kill their opponents and destroy their materials of war whatever those materials may be. Cities are turned to rubble and bodies lay scattered about indiscriminately in the wrack and ruin of the battlefield.\u00a0 Millions have died friend, foe, and the innocent because they were ground to dust between the two.<\/p>\n<p>War is terrible.\u00a0 But being against war for the sake of the terror of it alone while enjoying the luxuries that war has brought you makes you a fool of the first order. \u00a0If we know all of this, why do we still fight?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.havokjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/war-dpc.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2010 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/www.havokjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/war-dpc-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"War Typography Grunge Style Design\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a>Being against war is a convenience.\u00a0 Freedom of speech and religion is a luxury.\u00a0 It might surprise you to view it that way but it is true.\u00a0 You can list major and minor nations around the world where speaking your mind or worshiping in any but the approved fashion will get you killed by the government.<\/p>\n<p>Had we not fought the first war of our nation, we would have no nation as we see it today.\u00a0 The British Empire might not have fallen; the nation of America might never have risen at all.\u00a0 But go further than that.\u00a0 Would there have been a Rome without war?<\/p>\n<p>If you don\u2019t believe in something strongly enough to fight for it, why even argue about it in the first place?\u00a0 Those who decry war amuse me because they wish to use words against my sword.\u00a0 They feel superior but the truth is very simple.<\/p>\n<p>Brutality will win against words unless it is opposed by those willing to use the tools of brutality with discipline.\u00a0 That discipline is the difference between the good guys and the bad guys in the most simplistic terms.\u00a0 I have the ability to unsheathe my sword but I choose not to. \u00a0Not everyone in the world is of the same mindset.<\/p>\n<p>Read the Remainder at <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/havokjournal.com\/national-security\/still-fight\/#comments\">Havok Journal<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Why fight wars at all?\u00a0 We lose lives and treasure even if we win.\u00a0 Those who survive are haunted by the violence and the price they paid; whether they were drafted or volunteered every one of them offered up their lives for an ideal.
