Randy George, the US Army&#8217;s top officer, was fired by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth on April 2, 2026, during the ongoing war in Iran.<\/h2>\n<h2>No official reason was given. Two other generals were removed the same day, bringing the total number of senior military leaders fired under Hegseth to over a dozen. George served for more than 40 years, including combat deployments in the Gulf War, Iraq, and Afghanistan. He was nominated as Army Chief of Staff by President Biden in 2023.
