ISIL Affiliated ADF Claims Responsibility for\u00a0 Slaughtering 49 Christians in Brutal Machete Attack in DR Congo<\/a><\/h1>\n

 <\/p>\n

The armed group ISIL (ISIS<\/a>) has claimed responsibility for a\u00a0deadly attack<\/a> that a United Nations mission says killed at least 49 worshippers<\/a> during a night mass at a church in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).<\/h2>\n

The attack, which took place at the church in Ituri province\u2019s Komanda city, saw members of the\u00a0ISIL-affiliated<\/a>\u00a0Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) killing people with guns and machetes, and taking captives.<\/h2>\n

ISIL said on its Telegram channel that rebels had killed some 49 churchgoers and burned dozens of homes and shops.<\/h2>\n

The UN mission known as MONUSCO said at least 49 people had been killed, including 19 women and nine children, and condemned the attack.<\/h2>\n
