Trucker who can\u2019t speak English kills 5 in Texas crash\u2014he likely had a \u2018non-domicile CDL\u2019\u2026<\/a><\/h1>\n

You\u2019ve probably heard about the tragic 17-car pileup in Austin, Texas, that killed at least five people, including an infant. But what you may not have heard is that the semi-truck driver didn\u2019t speak English.<\/h2>\n

Of course,\u00a0CBS News<\/a>\u00a0conveniently left out the fact that the truck driver couldn\u2019t speak English\u2014so how could he possibly understand road signs? But they did post his name.<\/h2>\n

Five people were found dead on the scene, including one adult, a child and an infant. Eleven others were taken to hospitals.<\/h2>\n

Two hospitalized adults had life-threatening injuries, officials said.<\/h2>\n

Austin police said they arrested\u00a0Solomun Weldekeal Araya<\/strong>, 37. He has been charged with five counts of intoxication manslaughter and two counts of intoxication assault.<\/h2>\n

But there\u2019s actually a video of a witness confronting the driver, speaking to him in English. It\u2019s clear the driver, who seems totally out of it\u2014possibly inebriated\u2014could barely understand what was happening\u2014or what the witness is even saying.<\/h2>\n
