The attackers used guns as well as a drone loaded with an improvised explosive device (IED), according to local media reports.<\/h2>\n<h2>Days earlier, in the municipality of R\u00edo Bravo, on the border with Texas in the United States, a Mexican government vehicle\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/mx.usembassy.gov\/security-alert-level-4-do-not-travel-due-to-crime-and-kidnapping\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">detonated<\/a>\u00a0an IED that had been placed on the road, injuring its driver.<\/h2>\n<h2><strong><em>The use of IEDs seems to be becoming increasingly common in Mexico.<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n<h2>Between 2020 and 2021 only three of these devices were seized, but that figure rocketed to 1,375 in 2022, according to data from the Ministry of National Defense (Secretar\u00eda de la Defensa Nacional \u2013 SEDENA) obtained by InSight Crime.<\/h2>\n<h2>Since then, the detection of drones has continued to increase.
