We expect armies in uniforms on a battlefield, facing off.<\/em><\/h2>\n<h2><em>But the goal of \u201cunrestricted warfare\u201d is to surround the enemy before the enemy even realizes what is happening.<\/em><\/h2>\n<h2><em>Western warfare, he explained, is like chess: clearly marked kings and queens and knights squaring off directly against one another. The CCP\u2019s \u201cunrestricted warfare,\u201d in contrast, is like the ancient Chinese game of Go, in which the goal is steadily, stealthily to surround, and thus paralyze, your opponent.<\/em><\/h2>\n<h2><em>If you understand this concept, most of the last five years make sense.
