Classic Combat Pistol Drill: Cooper\u2019s El Presidente<\/a><\/h1>\n

When my father first started teaching me to shoot a handgun around nine or ten years old, he used Cooper’s Modern Technique<\/a> to cement the fundamentals and then a few years later the El Presidente<\/em> to combine all of these skills together.<\/h2>\n

One of the things I distinctly remember about this drill is it taught me the importance of Economy of Motion and Continuity of Movement, ie a SMOOTH Presentation of my firearm. If the Presentation is not smooth, nothing else that follows will be either.<\/h2>\n

To achieve this I needed to look at getting rid of any WASTED or ‘jerky’ movements (economy of motion) by seriously critiquing each COUNT of my draw stroke.<\/h2>\n

Later on when I started carrying Appendix Inside the Waistband and incorporating more realistic Combat Shooting into my training regimen, this methodology would prove to be invaluable!<\/h2>\n
