Martinsville woman stuck 8 hours in freezing temperatures after crash<\/a><\/h1>\n

Here is a painful lesson from my neck of the woods we can\u00a0 all learn from.<\/h2>\n

First Thing’s First: This woman should have never been out on the road in these conditions.<\/h2>\n

The weather conditions here in my part of Texas (Temps in the teens, sleet, ice on the roads, etc.) were announced well in advance for anybody with half a brain could make reasonable preparations.<\/h2>\n

So she was driving too fast, hit some black ice, crashed and slid off the road around 10 p.m. in the evening and was not rescued by EMS\/Police until almost 6 a.m. the next morning after a good samaritan heard her yelling and called for help. Not sure why she did not have a cell phone on her but there you have it.<\/h2>\n

So she spent 8 hours seriously injured and freezing her ass off.<\/h2>\n

Lessons Learned:<\/h2>\n

    Nobody is Coming to Save You and If They Do, it will be a While!<\/h2>\n<\/li>\n
  • \n

    Prepare for Bad Weather and Emergencies so you do not have to get out on the roads for supplies.<\/h2>\n<\/li>\n
  • \n

    Always Communicate with Friends\/Family Before you go out in bad weather or make any kind of road trip.<\/h2>\n<\/li>\n
  • \n

    If you do go out in bad weather, dress warm with layers.<\/h2>\n<\/li>\n
  • \n

    Have a Hands Free Cell Phone Available to you while driving.<\/h2>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
