New York City has agreed to pay more than $13 million \u2014 or nearly $10,000 each \u2014 to demonstrators who were arrested or beaten by cops\u00a0during the 2020 Black Lives Matter protests<\/a>\u00a0over the police killing of George Floyd in Minnesota.<\/span><\/h2>\n

The proposed class-action settlement, which still needs to be approved by a judge, would be one of the most expensive payouts awarded in connection with a mass arrest lawsuit in history, according to experts.<\/span><\/h2>\n
