But they aren\u2019t sufficient for winning modern wars, and now the iconic American weapons maker, which has been making arms since the 19th Century, has filed for bankruptcy.<\/p>\n<p>In 2013, the Pentagon decided Colt\u2019s M4 rifles weren\u2019t up to snuff and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.guns.com\/2013\/02\/26\/fn-lands-army-m4-contract-underbids-colt-remington\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">awarded<\/a> a key $77 million contract to supply the Army with rifles to F.N. Herstal, a weapons maker based in Belgium.
