There’s a race of men that don’t fit in,<\/h3>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A race that can’t stay still;<\/h3>\n

So they break the hearts of kith and kin,<\/h3>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 And they roam the world at will.<\/h3>\n

They range the field and they rove the flood,<\/h3>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 And they climb the mountain’s crest;<\/h3>\n

Theirs is the curse of the gypsy blood,<\/h3>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 And they don’t know how to rest.<\/h3>\n

<\/h3>\n

If they just went straight they might go far;<\/h3>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 They are strong and brave and true;<\/h3>\n

But they’re always tired of the things that are,<\/h3>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 And they want the strange and new.<\/h3>\n

They say: “Could I find my proper groove,<\/h3>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 What a deep mark I would make!”<\/h3>\n

So they chop and change, and each fresh move<\/h3>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Is only a fresh mistake.<\/h3>\n

<\/h3>\n

And each forgets, as he strips and runs<\/h3>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 With a brilliant, fitful pace,<\/h3>\n

It’s the steady, quiet, plodding ones<\/h3>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Who win in the lifelong race.<\/h3>\n

And each forgets that his youth has fled,<\/h3>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Forgets that his prime is past,<\/h3>\n

Till he stands one day, with a hope that’s dead,<\/h3>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 In the glare of the truth at last.<\/h3>\n

<\/h3>\n

He has failed, he has failed; he has missed his chance;<\/h3>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 He has just done things by half.<\/h3>\n

Life’s been a jolly good joke on him,<\/h3>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 And now is the time to laugh.<\/h3>\n

Ha, ha! He is one of the Legion Lost;<\/h3>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 He was never meant to win;<\/h3>\n

He’s a rolling stone, and it’s bred in the bone;<\/h3>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 He’s a man who won’t fit in.<\/h3>\n
