{"id":24507,"date":"2018-08-14T19:53:18","date_gmt":"2018-08-15T00:53:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hcsblogdotorg.wordpress.com\/?p=24507"},"modified":"2018-08-14T19:53:18","modified_gmt":"2018-08-15T00:53:18","slug":"armed-citizen-corner-taking-away-a-piece-of-wisdom-from-the-clearwater-florida-shooting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thetacticalhermit.com\/index.php\/2018\/08\/14\/armed-citizen-corner-taking-away-a-piece-of-wisdom-from-the-clearwater-florida-shooting\/","title":{"rendered":"What Can We Learn from the Clearwater Florida Shooting?"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"jetpack-video-wrapper\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Florida Man Won\u2019t Be Charged in Fatal Shooting Under \u2018Stand Your Ground\u2019 Law\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/KAUrLpmOQVk?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>It was<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.redstate.com\/sarah-rumpf\/2018\/08\/13\/shooter-florida-%E2%80%98stand-ground%E2%80%99-killing-charged-manslaughter\/?stand-ground?-killing-charged-manslaughter\/?utm_source=rsmorningbriefing&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=nl\"> recently announced<\/a><\/strong> that Michael Drejka who shot and killed Markeis McGlockton last month in Clearwater, Florida in what appeared to be a case of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/wrko.iheart.com\/content\/2018-08-13-shooter-in-florida-stand-your-ground-killing-arrested-for-manslaughter\/\">Stand Your Ground Self-Defense<\/a><\/strong> has now been arrested and charged with Manslaughter.<\/p>\n<p>Being that Drejka was not initially charged by Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri, who cited Floridas<strong> Stand Your Ground Law<\/strong> as justification, definitely shows some serious pressure was applied from both the DA and the heavyweight champion of legal taskmasters: The court of public opinion.<\/p>\n<p>Which of course begs the question:\u00a0<em><strong>Are We a Nation of Laws or of Public Opinion?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Well, folks, as I have said many times before, when you carry a gun for self-defense, you must always be prepared to fight for your life <strong>TWICE:<\/strong> Once on the Street and Once in the Courtroom, and in America today when it comes to a self-defense case, Public Opinion weighs <strong>VERY HEAVILY <\/strong>in favor of the victim,\u00a0especially when the victim is a non-white.<\/p>\n<p>And for those of you out there that say <strong>RACE<\/strong> had nothing to do with the legal change of heart in this shooting, get real. When a non-white get&#8217;s killed it makes the news, when white people get killed, it is barely a second page by-line. Don&#8217;t believe me? <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/hcsblogdotorg.wordpress.com\/2018\/07\/24\/another-horrific-case-of-black-on-white-hate-crime-goes-under-reported-and-un-noticed\/\">READ THIS<\/a><\/strong> and then ask yourself, did you hear anything about it on the lamestream news? Not a peep.<\/p>\n<p>Legal history in self-defense cases in Florida also backs me up here.<\/p>\n<p>Remember the Treyvon Martin and George Zimmerman case in 2012? Zimmerman was found not guilty by a jury of his peers but King Obama, not being able to stay out of a Sovereign States&#8217;s business, stuck his big federal Nose in it and had his legal lap dog, Operation Fast and Furious himself, Eric Holder, pursue &#8220;Hate Crime&#8221; charges against Zimmerman (which never materialized.)
