OK, so let’s address the elephant in the room.<\/p>\n

NO this is not a NFA\/Class 3 Firearm. <\/strong><\/p>\n

You do not need a Federal SBR Tax Stamp to own it.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

This comes directly from the Mossberg website and is verified by a\u00a0letter provided by the ATF.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Brownells also came out with a Shockwave Kit<\/a> <\/strong>for this gun that offers a 14″ ported barrel, Cylinder Choke, Hi-Viz Sight and Stabilizing brace.<\/p>\n

Niche weapons have always presented a type of challenge for the civilian operator.<\/p>\n

A collection of Firearms, just like a collection of mechanical tools, are bought to do a specific job (Needle Nose pliers, Wire Cutters, Torque Wrench, etc.) a man needs to have enough tools\/guns to do every job that might come up, but not so many that he has a huge number of useless or redundant ones.<\/p>\n

To measure practicality with a firearm, you can apply what I like to call the “One Gun Test”<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

If the shit hits the proverbial fan tomorrow and you are left with JUST THIS GUN,<\/strong> would you be able to not only defend yourself but also hunt with it?<\/p>\n

Add the logistical\/ammunition uniformity test<\/strong> to this standard and you can see where I am going.<\/p>\n

Ultimately, I think the Shockwave is a niche weapon worth owning for a few reasons.<\/p>\n

  1. It Provides the Civilian Operator with a powerful, compact, low-cost option for both home defense and a vehicle weapon, ie, “trunk gun”.<\/li>\n
  2. A man could own this and a full size combat shotgun and still not be too deep financially speaking. (Well below a thousand dollars.)<\/li>\n
  3. You have the chance to own a SEMI<\/strong> sawed-off pump shotgun legally!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
