{"id":1873,"date":"2012-10-28T12:53:40","date_gmt":"2012-10-28T17:53:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hammerheadcombatsystems.org\/?p=1873"},"modified":"2012-10-28T12:53:40","modified_gmt":"2012-10-28T17:53:40","slug":"preparing-for-sandy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thetacticalhermit.com\/index.php\/2012\/10\/28\/preparing-for-sandy\/","title":{"rendered":"Preparing for Sandy&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/hcsblogdotorg.files.wordpress.com\/2012\/10\/sandy.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1874\" title=\"Hurricane Sandy\" alt=\"Preparing for Hurricane Sandy\" src=\"http:\/\/hcsblogdotorg.files.wordpress.com\/2012\/10\/sandy.jpg?w=300\" height=\"168\" width=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Though I am tucked away down here in Texas, I have relatives and close friends on the east coast that are in the path of this storm.<\/p>\n<p>Though I preach preparedness and thinking ahead constantly, I hope all you guys have taken \u00a0steps to get ready for this thing&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p>If not, here are some simple things you can do <span style=\"text-decoration:underline;\"><strong>NOW:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If you have not already got one, a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Kaito-Electronics-KA500BLK-Voyager-Emergency\/dp\/B001F0MNRM\/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1351445375&amp;sr=8-2&amp;keywords=ka500+voyager\">NOAA radio<\/a> like this one are excellent.<\/li>\n<li>In a large plastic storage container, put the following items:<\/li>\n<li>First Aid and Trauma Kit for Household<\/li>\n<li>Medications<\/li>\n<li>Personal and Hygiene Items<\/li>\n<li>Blankets and Pillows<\/li>\n<li>Water (3 days worth for total number in your home)<\/li>\n<li>Food (3 Days worth, \u00a0Non-Perishable, high calorie for total number in your home)<\/li>\n<li>\u00a03 Flashlights and a Headlamp (plus plenty of batteries)<\/li>\n<li>Set of Basic Tools (a good Multi-Tool will suffice)<\/li>\n<li>Good Fixed and Folding Knife<\/li>\n<li>Cell phones (with chargers..my NOAA radio has a crank charger with an adapter for both my cell phones)<\/li>\n<li>Cash<\/li>\n<li>Maps<\/li>\n<li>Ammo, Mags and Tools for Firearms<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.redcross.org\/prepare\">American Red Cross<\/a>\u00a0has an excellent web site on disaster preparation&#8230;very basic, but good stuff, it will provide a basic template.<\/p>\n<p>God Bless and Hang Tough Brothers!<\/p>\n<p>Stay Dangerous!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; Though I am tucked away down here in Texas, I have relatives and close friends on the east coast that are in the path of this storm.
