For those of you interested in this subject of Guerilla Snipers and how Propaganda in sniping can often be a valuable weapon in and of itself, I would highly recommend the Book Fry the Brain by John West. -SF<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Snipers stalk the sprawling battlefields of Iraq and Syria. Hiding, quietly waiting and squeezing off long-distance kill-shots at unsuspecting human targets, sharpshooters on all sides of the Syrian civil conflict and the war on Islamic State have a greater impact on the fighting\u2019s outcome than their small numbers imply.<\/p>\n

For in addition to precisely, selectively killing front-line fighters and leaders, sharpshooters wield disproportionate deterrent value. They\u2019re scary<\/em>\u200a\u2014\u200aeven rumors of nearby enemy snipers can grind combat operations to a halt.<\/p>\n

ISIS knows it. Hence the terror group\u2019s latest propaganda video, chillingly entitled Picking Heads<\/em><\/a>. The slick propaganda piece depicts ragtag militant sharpshooters who, despite apparently inadequate training and equipment, nevertheless strike fear in their enemies.<\/p>\n

ISIS seizes every opportunity to churn out propaganda. Snipers with their terrible, bloody mystique are perhaps the perfect subject for militant hagiographers. The terror group has released multiple videos<\/a> promoting its sniper brigades and has posted photos<\/a> of the snipers on social media pages.<\/p>\n

The Islamic State snipers in Picking Heads<\/em> appear to have limited training and rely on a random assortment of equipment. In other words, aside from the slick production ISIS is known for, the videos show exactly what you\u2019d expect from a group of militants waging unconventional warfare.<\/p>\n

They\u2019re making do with whatever they can get their hands on. But if the video is any indicator, Islamic State snipers are a formidable lot despite <\/em>their limitations.<\/p>\n
