{"id":14037,"date":"2016-04-04T09:00:53","date_gmt":"2016-04-04T14:00:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hcstx.org\/?p=14037"},"modified":"2016-04-04T09:00:53","modified_gmt":"2016-04-04T14:00:53","slug":"military-defense-news-the-armys-new-csass-sniper-rifle","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thetacticalhermit.com\/index.php\/2016\/04\/04\/military-defense-news-the-armys-new-csass-sniper-rifle\/","title":{"rendered":"Military Defense News: The Army&#8217;s New CSASS Sniper Rifle"},"content":{"rendered":"<article id=\"post-31301\" class=\"post-31301 post type-post status-publish format-standard has-post-thumbnail hentry category-small-arms\">\n<div class=\"entry-content clearfix\">\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-14039\" src=\"https:\/\/hcsblogdotorg.files.wordpress.com\/2016\/04\/csass.jpg?w=620\" alt=\"CSASS\" width=\"620\" height=\"367\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The U.S. Army has chosen Heckler &amp; Koch to make its new Compact Semi-Automatic Sniper System.<\/p>\n<p>The March 31 contract award to Heckler &amp; Koch Defense Inc. \u2013 worth up to $44,500,000.00 \u2013 allows the Army to purchase a maximum total of 3,643 Compact Semi-Automatic Sniper System (CSASS) units, according to an announcement on FedBizOpps.gov.<\/p>\n<p>In June 2014, the Army released a request for proposal to invite gun companies to build compact versions of the service\u2019s 7.62mm M110 Semi-Automatic Sniper System.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-14041\" src=\"https:\/\/hcsblogdotorg.files.wordpress.com\/2016\/04\/g28e.jpg?w=620\" alt=\"G28E\" width=\"620\" height=\"299\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Part of the goal of the effort was to arm snipers with a rifle that doesn\u2019t stick out to the enemy as a sniper weapon. The M110, made by Knight\u2019s Armament Company, is easy to recognize since its 46.5-inches with suppressor, more than 13 inches longer than the M4.<\/p>\n<p>The CSASS is also intended to provide improved reliability, accuracy and ergonomics, according to the request for proposal.
