I will place the original link for each part in its appropriate posting.]<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/oathkeepers.org\/oath\/2011\/05\/16\/an-empire-strikes-home-_-part-one\/<\/p>\n<p><strong>Forenote:<\/strong> This article focuses on the recent killing of a former U.S. Marine \u00a0veteran of the Iraq war in a military styled raid on his home by the Pima County, Arizona, Sheriff\u2019s Department while allegedly attempting to serve a warrant.<br \/>\nHowever, there are two other striking stories which relate to this story. The three stories taken together create a yet larger story, and one with very serious implications. I will break the larger story into three sub-sections, parts one through three.\u00a0 I will post two other parts as quickly as I can write each of them. Please check back at this site for the next installments, and do grant yourself permission to read part one in full.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-13003\" src=\"https:\/\/hcsblogdotorg.files.wordpress.com\/2016\/03\/usmc1.png\" alt=\"USMC1\" width=\"570\" height=\"364\" \/><\/p>\n<h1 style=\"text-align:center;\">An Empire Strikes Home<\/h1>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\"><strong>By Elias Alias, May 16, 2011<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Let us examine<\/strong> some articles about a young husband and father, a war veteran with the U.S. Marines who served two tours in Iraq. The articles are about his being killed by the Pima County, Arizona, Sheriff\u2019s Department while the Sheriff\u2019s Department was serving a warrant at the former Marine\u2019s house.<\/h3>\n<p>On May 05, 2011 KGUN9 in Tucson, Arizona, reported the following information to its audience:<\/p>\n<p><strong>PCSD ID\u2019s man killed in morning SWAT situation<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Posted: May 05, 2011 11:47 AM MDT Thursday, May 5, 2011 1:47 PM <\/em><em>: Updated May 06, 2011 11:20 AM MDT<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) \u2013 <\/em><em>The Pima County Sheriff\u2019s Department has confirmed that a man is dead after\u00a0a standoff and gun battle with deputies.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Jason Ogan, spokesperson with PCSD tells KGUN9 that 26-year-old Jose Huerena was the suspect killed this morning.<\/em><em>According to Ogan, deputies were serving a warrant at a home near Valenica Road and Wade Road when the standoff started.\u00a0 A woman and\u00a0a\u00a0child were also in the home with the\u00a0suspect at the time the warrant was served.\u00a0 Howeverm [sic] they were able to get out of the house before the SWAT team became involved.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>When deputies fianlly entered the home, the Huerena started firing with a long rifle.\u00a0\u00a0Deputies fired back, fatally shooting him.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>That article is here \u2013<strong> [EA Note: This link is no longer good.]<\/strong><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.kgun9.com\/story\/14580187\/tpd-confirms-second-swat-situation-in-two-days\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">http:\/\/www.kgun9.com\/story\/14580187\/tpd-confirms-second-swat-situation-in-two-days<\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>\u2013<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>As I read the above article<\/strong>, I gather that the Pima County Sheriff\u2019s Department was using \u201cdeputies\u201d to serve a warrant.\u00a0 At the home of the man for whom the alleged warrant was issued, a man ended up dead after \u201ca standoff and gun battle with deputies\u201d. \u00a0The \u201csuspect\u201d was, as I read this story, involved in a \u201cstandoff\u201d. That means to me that he was barricaded inside his home and was keeping the officers outside his house by some means or other, with the most likely implied meaning being his brandishing of a long rifle.\u00a0 We don\u2019t know for sure at this point who \u201cthe Huerena\u201d would be, but we figure that is actually Jose Guerena, the <em>suspect<\/em> for whom the warrant was issued, who fired on the deputies \u201cwith a long rifle\u201d. At that point, after the suspect fired on them, they opened fire and killed him.<\/p>\n<p>All in a day\u2019s work, yes?<\/p>\n<p>Before moving to the next news release about this shooting incident, in which fortunately no peace officers were harmed, let us recount that an armed suspect fired on the deputies who were there to serve a warrant, as told to the news journalist by \u2026 well, by whom?<\/p>\n<p>We must presume that the report came from the Sheriff\u2019s Department for Pima County, right? In fact, the article clearly states that one \u201cJason Ogan, spokesperson with PCSD\u201d told KGUN9 that Jose Guerena was the suspect who was shot dead, and that deputies were serving a warrant at Huerena\u2019s house when the standoff started.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ll bear that in mind.<\/p>\n<p>But later and to our surprise, we\u2019re to read a somewhat different account.\u00a0 Let\u2019s look at the subsequent report:<\/p>\n<p><strong>SWAT Officers kill armed suspect, neighbors shocked<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>TUCSON (KGUN9-TV)<em> \u2013 <\/em><em>At around 9:45 Thursday morning, people living near Valencia and Ajo Highway heard sounds that they\u2019ve never heard on their street before.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cGunshots. Boom, boom boom. Screaming!\u201d described a neighbor.\u00a0 \u201cIt kind of looks like a scene from Law &amp; Order.\u00a0 To see all of this is just crazy!\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Pima County Sheriff\u2019s deputies\u00a0told KGUN9 News\u00a0that the SWAT team showed up at the home to serve a search warrant, although they won\u2019t say the reason for the warrant. Deputies said that when they went down the hallway, they were greeted by Jose Guerena<a href=\"http:\/\/www.kgun9.com\/story\/14580187\/tpd-confirms-second-swat-situation-in-two-days\">,<\/a> 26, who was armed with a rifle. Deputies said that he opened fire on the officers which forced them to fire back, killing Guerena. The bulletproof shield that officers were carrying took the brunt of the bullets. They were not hurt.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cWe are trained to always be on alert because you never know when a scenario is going to change.\u00a0 We don\u2019t always know what the bad guy is going to do.\u201dsaid Pima County Deputy, Jason Ogan.\u00a0 \u201cThe\u00a0SWAT team is used deliberately for high risk type warrants, this met that criteria and that\u2019s why the\u00a0SWAT team served the warrant.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Ogan said that Guerena\u2019s wife and four year old son were\u00a0not hurt.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Neighbors who spoke to 9 On Your Side had no idea why the SWAT team was serving a warrant on the house.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cBeing out here so close to the border, it could have been anything from drugs to human smuggling,\u201d one neighbor said.\u00a0 He added that the Guerena family was the \u201cquiet family\u201d on the street.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Guerena\u2019s home was eventually searched, but deputies would not disclose what was found.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2013 end quoted passages \u2013<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Read the Remainder of This Article at <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.oathkeepers.org\/an-empire-strikes-home-part-one\/\">Oath Keepers<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[EA note: This article was originally posted at Oath Keepers\u2019 national website on May 16 2011.
