The sea animal some have been calling &#8220;the Swansea monster&#8221; and suspecting is some kind of crocodile relative is likely just a pike eel.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-el-text standard-body-el-text\">The photographer who took it, Robert Tyndall, told the <a class=\"body-el-link standard-body-el-link\" href=\"http:\/\/www.theherald.com.au\/story\/3730605\/camera-angle-behind-mystery-eel-of-swansea\/\">Newcastle Herald<\/a>\u00a0the actual fish is about four-and-a-half feet long, but the angle makes it seem much, much bigger\u2014part of why it took off on the Internet like a neo-<a class=\"body-el-link standard-body-el-link\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Montauk_Monster\">Montauk monster<\/a>. Biologist Julian Pepperell confirmed the creature as a pike eel, and said they frequently end up in fisherman&#8217;s net.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ad-gpt-breaker-container\">If you wanted a silver lining on this being a monster, though, there&#8217;s this much: pike eels are known for a ferocious bite and aggressive behavior, according to Pepperell. &#8220;They have incredibly strong muscle and their teeth are geared towards inflicting slashing wounds,&#8221; he told the Herald.
