{"id":11301,"date":"2016-01-30T16:00:52","date_gmt":"2016-01-30T22:00:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hcstx.org\/?p=11301"},"modified":"2016-01-30T16:00:52","modified_gmt":"2016-01-30T22:00:52","slug":"another-reason-to-be-armed-south-carolina-barbershop-mayhem","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thetacticalhermit.com\/index.php\/2016\/01\/30\/another-reason-to-be-armed-south-carolina-barbershop-mayhem\/","title":{"rendered":"Another Reason to Be Armed: South Carolina Barbershop Mayhem"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-11304\" src=\"https:\/\/hcsblogdotorg.files.wordpress.com\/2016\/01\/ccl.jpg\" alt=\"CCL\" width=\"600\" height=\"420\" \/><\/p>\n<p>On January 22 2016, a barber and a customer opened fire and killed one of two armed men who allegedly entered the business to rob patrons.<\/p>\n<p>The incident occurred around 7 pm at Next Up Barber and Beauty in Columbia, South Carolina.<\/p>\n<p>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/columbiapd.net\/photos\/a.182579751779604.32971.182562865114626\/936993469671558\/?type=3&amp;theater\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Columbia Police Department<\/a>,\u00a0customers said \u201ctwo armed men wearing masks demanded and stole money from them.\u201d And in the course of moving around to collect money and valuables from patrons, the \u201ctwo armed men\u201d were met with gunfire from two concealed permit holders who were in the barbershop. One of the permit holders was\u00a0Master Barber\u00a0Elmurray Bookman and the other was a customer sitting in a barber chair.<\/p>\n<p>Bookman told <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wltx.com\/story\/news\/local\/2016\/01\/23\/when-he-started-shooting-came-out-and-started-shooting\/79244718\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WLTX<\/a>\u00a0one of the masked men asked the customer for money the customer told him it was over by another chair. When the men moved toward the other chair to retrieve the money, the customer opened fire and Bookman opened fire as well.<\/p>\n<p>Bookman described it this way:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>When he came to him for his money, he told him that his money was over there in the chair. When the guy walked over to the chair, that\u2019s when he came out and shot. Then when he started shooting, I came out and started shooting.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The Columbia Police Department said, <em>\u201cOne of the suspects was shot multiple times before running from the business and collapsing outside\u201d<\/em> and the second escaped. The one that collapsed was later pronounced dead.
