Under BHO\u2019s new plan intended to drastically reduce the number of Americans who will be allowed to purchase and keep guns, state agencies, the VA, even the Social Security Administration will be required to provide the FBI with heretofore private and \u201cprotected<\/em>\u201d health information of individual citizens.<\/p>\n
Those people sought treatment with the understanding that all information would be kept private. Another broken promise!<\/h3>\n
The consequence is predictable!<\/p>\n
Anyone who has ever sought treatment, even counseling, for emotional issues, even talking with a marriage counselor, will now be perfunctorily \u201c flagged<\/em>.\u201d This includes thousands, probably millions, of my fellow military veterans currently being treated successfully for brain injury, and who receive both VA disability benefits and SSDI benefits from the SSA.<\/p>\n
When any of them now go to an FFL Dealer to buy a handgun, rifle, or shotgun, they will discover that they have been arbitrarily (and indefinitely) disenfranchised, converted to second-class citizens, no longer permitted to enjoy the rights of a free American.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
In order to legally buy and possess a gun, they\u2019ll now have to \u201cprove<\/em>\u201d they\u2019re NOT crazy. I\u2019m not at all sure how that is done!<\/p>\n
The predictable result will be that people, including veterans and LEOs, who need, and would benefit from, emotional counseling will not seek it, not wanting their rights and liberty capriciously taken from them. Instead, they\u2019ll seek informal counsel (where no record is kept)<\/em>, or not seek help at all.<\/p>\n
A nameless, unaccountable, unaccessible, bureaucrat, cloistered within some federal high-rise, arbitrarily decides you shouldn\u2019t have a gun, based on a few lines on a piece of paper. All \u201cdue process\u201d<\/em> is bypassed.<\/p>\n
Here we go, down the slippery slope to serfdom! . Veterans, from 18 to 90, may end up marching on Washington, as did the \u201cBonus Army<\/em>\u201d back when Hoover was President!<\/p>\n
Again, \u201cdue process\u201d<\/em> is in our Constitution for good reason! Be always suspicions of motives of smooth-talking (even weeping)<\/em> politicians who insist it needs to be swept aside, always, of course, for the loftiest of reasons!<\/p>\n
\u201cI have little interest in \u2018streamlining\u2019 government, nor in making it \u2018 more efficient,\u2019 for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to \u2018 promote welfare,\u2019 for I propose to extend Freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them. It is not to inaugurate new programs, but to cancel old ones that do violence to our Constitution, or have failed their purpose, or that impose on the people unwarranted burdens. I will not attempt to discover whether legislation is \u2018needed\u2019 before I have first determined whether it is Constitutionally permissible.
